People person question, awkward social gatherings?

The boy I like invited me to an amusement park tomorrow, we're still kind of in the "getting to know each other" stage. We're going with like six other people I don't really know. ONce we get there I'm guessing it should be fine, but what about on the hour long car ride up there? Everyone else is already friends and I don't want to sit awkwardly in back the whole time? I'm pretty outgoing and stuff, but what can I say or do so I can be more part of the group, and not just make awkward small talk the whole time? I hate stuff like that, where I don't feel like I belong. I know all the people are nice, so once I talk to them it shouldn't be a problem.
